What is Theatrino?

theatrino actors stageTHEATRINO needs young, energetic, enthusiastic, dependable, flexible people - otherwise know as extraordinary actors with Theatre in Education (T.I.E.) experience to participate in an ‘adventure’
that is hard work but extremely rewarding.

THEATRINO actors work in groups of three, touring Italian schools and presenting interactive English Language shows supported by workshops. Performances consist of sketches adapted for a particular age group focusing on a particular theme and grammatical point. The theatrino-bus-stopoverall emphasis is on promoting spoken English in a fun and interactive way.

On average the job consists of working five contact hours a day in a school, with travel afterwards which may include distances of 100km and upwards. Actors may be required to work Saturdays in certain areas. ACLE provides a weekly cash salary, the flight from London to Italy, accommodation, car and petrol, and insurance. While on tour you will be responsible for light administration tasks and accounts for your group.

Knowledge of the Italian language is obviously useful, but it is not necessary to apply. For those interested, upon completion of the five month contract, there could be the opportunity to work for Summer & City Camps throughout Italy. As an actor you will have the opportunity to learn, observe and live the Italian culture and visit many areas and cities all over Italy. It is also possible to develop your knowledge of the Italian language in your spare time.

THEATRINO is an exciting and unique opportunity for all actors with a love for ‘Theatre in Education’ and children. Italy is one of few theatrino-english-pubcountries that have little experience of the educational, theatrical and social benefits that Theatre in Education brings to students. As an actor you should have the flexibility to perform in a range of genres from slapstick to Shakespeare. THEATRINO also offers actors the freedom to bring their own qualities and personality to each sketch. The job is a unique one and encourages growth of character and theatrical ability. It’s an experience never to be forgotten and one that will prove invaluable in future careers.
