Italia and it’s Culture

  • Is Italian children’s behaviour different from English, American and Canadian behaviour ?

Yes. Italian children do not like getting dirty. They will not come home with grass stains on their pants. They will not take their shoes off and walk around on the grass barefoot on a hot summer day. You will find it hard to get them to sit on the grass to begin with. This is because the most children come from overpopulated areas and are not familiar with nature. Furthermore, the birth rate in Italy is the lowest in the world. Therefore, children are often spoiled. Still, you will easily win them over … and they will love you!

  • Why do I need to respect Italian social behaviour while at camp ?

Simply because you enter a different social system! Still, ACLE warmly welcomes changes introduced in the teaching system as long as they do not frighten or offend Italian adults.

  • Is Italian cultural and social behaviour different from the English/ American culture ?

Yes, very often.

  • Which aspects could cause a cultural shock ?

Not being able to change your manners or adapt to a new cultural and social environment, accepting the difference without losing your personality.
